Speaker Profile:

Professor John He is a physician scientist who was graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and got his PhD in University of Paris VI. He moved to USA in 1992 and completed his postdoc training at NIH and medical residency training at SUNY Downstate University. Currently, he is the division chief of Nephrology at Mount Sinai Health System and Irene and Dr. Arthur Fishburg endowed chair of Nephrology. He supervises a total of 52 full-time faculty in the division and his division is ranked No. 11 in Nephrology in USA. He is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Pharmacological Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research has been focusing on the understanding of the pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease. His lab uses systems biology approach to identify new biomarkers and drug targets to diagnose and treat diabetic kidney disease. Some of these findings have been translated into pre-clinical and clinical trials. Dr. He is internationally known as an expertise in the field of glomerular cell biology and diabetic kidney disease. His research has been continuously funded by NIH with a total of $10 million. He has published more than 200 papers in the high impact peer-reviewed journals.
