Abstract

Digital Water will completely change how water is treated and managed. At present, most cities have fewer than five environmental monitoring stations. With the development of sensors having autonomous battery life of 2 years and capable of transmitting over kilometers, at present by GSM and later by the Internet of Technology, there will be an abundance of data. The IofT will generate this information. BIG DATA will be used to manage it and block chain will be applied to provide security to the information and render it transparent. The talk will discuss why Shenzhen, in cooperation with CUHK-Shenzhen, is uniquely posed to lead in the development of digital water and to exploit this locally, nationally and as an export industry. It will include research projects, new academic faculties, incubators and entrepreneurship.
