- Introduction
Sino-Foreign Cooperative University Union (“Union”) was founded in June, 2014. Directed by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, the Union is a national non-profit social organization engaged in the exchange of practical experiences in running Sino-Foreign cooperative universities, including The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, New York University Shanghai, Duke Kunshan University, Wenzhou-Kean University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, in total 7 universities with independent legal person status. The Union is aimed at synergizing efforts of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions to explore common problems and solutions and provide advice on national higher education reforms. Since inception, it has held three council meetings and “Sino-Foreign Cooperative University Presidents Forum”, promoting the exchange and communication between Chinese and foreign cooperative education institutions, serving as platform for Sino-foreign cooperative educations to voice their opinions, and advancing national higher education reforms.
- Responsibilities
There are two aspects of the Secretariat’s work. One is to hold “Sino-foreign Cooperative University Presidents Forum” every year. This is to strengthen the exchange and communication between union members, explore common problems and solutions, and share experiences and lessons in running such universities, in order to promote a healthy development of Sino-foreign cooperative education. The other is to synergize efforts of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions in speaking to society and government with one voice and enhancing their influence on national higher education reforms.
