Exchange Program between SSE and Yao Class, Tsinghua University successfully Concluded
From January 23 to January 26, 10 students and 4 teacher representatives from Tsinghua University Computer Science Experiment Class (Yao Class) conducted a 4-day exchange program at CUHK-Shenzhen. They have participated in a research project of SSE, fully experienced the general education and college culture of our university and visited high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen such as DJI.
In this event, students from Tsinghua Yao Class and SSE, CUHK-Shenzhen conducted some mini research projects together. Students were divided into five research groups, with each team consisting of two Tsinghua University students and two CUHK-Shenzhen students. Among them, three groups have carried out unmanned sailboat projects under the guidance of Professor Qian Huihuan, and two groups deep learning projects under the guidance of Professor Li Wenye.

1. Opening ceremony
On the evening of January 23, the university held the opening ceremony and welcome dinner for the 2018 exchange program between SSE, CUHK-Shenzhen and Tsinghua University Computer Science Experiment Class (Yao Class) at the Student Activity Center.
Professor Simon Pun of SSE presided over the welcome dinner. At the opening ceremony, Professor Xu Yangsheng, the president of CUHK-Shenzhen, delivered a speech and extended a warm welcome to the students of Tsinghua University. Professor Huang Longbo of Tsinghua University also introduced the Tsinghua Yao Class during the dinner.

2. Course experience
2.1 SSE course experience
On the afternoon of January 23, students and teachers from Tsinghua Yao Class experienced SSE lectures brought by Professor Qian Huihuan and Professor Li Wenye of the Big Data Research Institute. Professor Qian introduced the robotics while Professor Li shared with his big data research projects.

2. 2 General education experience
Students of Yao Class also experienced the unique general education of our university. General Education course was mainly divided into two parts: Dialogue with Humanities and Dialogue with Nature. In the section "Dialogue with Humanities," Prof. Deng Yangzhou talked about "Plato on Love" and Professor Jiang Lili presented "Aristotle on Knowledge" during the "Dialogue with Nature" section.
They also joined GE tutorials to experience more about different teaching styles of CUHK-Shenzhen.

3. College activities
3.1 Golf picnic with Muse
On the afternoon of January 24, Muse College invited Tsinghua students participated in Golf picnic which was divided into putting teaching, practice, and dining. The activity aims to provide students with a golf experience combining both fun and guidance.

3.2 "Bird Island" with Diligentia
On the afternoon of January 25, students experienced the value of knowledge in group games at the "Bird Island" exercise held by Diligentia College. They understood more about the power of knowledge management, and learned to transform personal learning into organizational learning for faster access to knowledge and higher efficiency in the application of knowledge.
3.3 Wine Tasting
On the evening on January 26, classmates from Tsinghua Yao Class learned about the Bordeaux wines at a tasting session held at the Shaw College, CUHK-Shenzhen.

4. Visits

5. Master Sharing
5.1 Lunch sharing session
On January 24, Prof. Janny Leung, Dean of Shaw College invited Yao Class students to participate in a lunch sharing session with Prof. Li Dong of SEE held by Shaw College. The guest of this regular activity will share with students exchange professional knowledge and life experience during lunch. 。

5.2 Lectures by Tsinghua University professors
On the afternoon of January 24, Prof. Huang Longbo, Director of Yao Class and Prof. Zhang Chongjie of Tsinghua University gave talks on computer and artificial intelligence.

5.3 Dinner with Nobel Laureate
On the evening of January 25, delegates from both sides dined with Prof. Arieh Warshel, Distinguished Professor at Large, 2013 Nobel laureate in Chemistry, and Prof.Chen Changwen, Dean of SSE.

6. Mini projects
From January 23 to January 26, ten students of Tsinghua Yao Class and ten CUHK-SZ students conducted some minor projects in five groups (four students in each group, including two Tsinghua students and two CUHK-Shenzhen students). Three groups carried out unmanned sailing projects under the guidance of Professor Qian Huihuan, and two groups deep learning projects under the guidance of Professor Li Wenye.

7. Closing ceremony
On the afternoon of January 26, 2018, the closing ceremony of the 2018 student exchange program between the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Tsinghua University's Computer Science Experiment Class (Yao Class) was successfully held in the Governing Board Meeting Room.
The five groups consist of students from both sides presented their research results at the closing ceremony on the Feb. 26th. With completion of 3 tasks and professors' recognition, the Upsidedown team won the championship with their wind-driven sailboat research results.
