  • Event
The lecture compares the development experiences of East Asia and the Arab world. It posits that development performances in both of these regions are overdetermined by their modes of integration with the world economy. For East Asia, it's through the manufacturing of civilian-end use commodities and for the Arab World, through oil and militarism. It argues also the latter form of capital accumulation, the subjugation of nations in the Arab world, relates to and imposes harsh conditions on East Asia and the rest of the world.
