China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a National Science and Technology Major Infrastructure Project within China's 12th Five-Year Plan. It is China's first and the world's fourth pulsed spallation neutron source with an internationally leading performance. The country's independent and integrated innovation has resulted in a domestic manufacturing rate of over 90%. The facility construction was started in October 2011 and passed the national inspection and acceptance in August 2018 before an open operation. More than 100 user experiments have been completed so far. In line with national strategic needs and international science and technology frontier standards, CSNS provides the most advanced research platforms for materials science and technology, physics, chemistry and chemical engineering, life sciences, resource environment, and new energy. The speaker will introduce neutron scattering and its applications, CSNS development, multidisciplinary applications, open operation results, and future development plans.
