Speaker Profile:

Professor Hongxing Xu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, Mathematics Department. He was graduated from Peking University in 1992, and then obtained his master’s degree and doctor’s degree in 1998 and 2002 respectively from The Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Prof. Xu currently serves as the Dean of the School of Physics and Technology in Wuhan University. He was rewarded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2006 and won the Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth and the Rao Yutai Prize for Physics by the Chinese Physical Society in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

Abstract:

Plasmonics / Nanophotonics is a new branch of great significance in optics and spectroscopy, which will bring many ground-breaking reforms in the fields like information, biology and energy. The report will mainly introduce the discovery of the electromagnetic enhancement effect in the nanometer gap and the study of many aspects in ultra-sensitive sensor like the single molecule Raman spectroscope and the vertical distance discrimination of submeters; it will also introduce the physical mechanism and regulatory mechanism of the nano-waveguide isoionic propagation and the study of the photon router, completed optical logic as well as cascading of the half adder and the optical logic happened in a nano-waveguide network.
