Abstract:

This report will first describe the past and present of artificial intelligence, and explain to what extent artificial intelligence is developed. The relationship between artificial intelligence and computer science will be further elaborated. The speaker would explain why the revival of artificial intelligence marks that the information age has entered a new stage of intelligentization rather than the "Intelligence Age". Finally, the speaker will clarify the meaning of “the new generation of artificial intelligence” and discuss why artificial intelligence is the bellwether of the digital economy.

 

Speaker Profile:

Guojie Li is currently the Chief Scientist of The Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereafter ICT).He was elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995 and a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries in 2001. He also serves as the Dean of the School of Computer and Control Engineering of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chairman of Sugon (Dawning Information Industry Co.,Ltd) and the Honorary President of the China Computer Federation.

 

Li received his Ph.D. in 1985 at Purdue University in US. He served as the Director of ICT from 1999 to 2011. Li's early research interests include high performance computer, parallel algorithm,Internet, and artificial intelligence. In recent years, he has focused on strategic consulting research in the development of high technology and digital economy. He has published more than 150 academic papers, two volumes of the "Exploration of Innovation" collection. He has directed a series of projects such as building Dawning-1000 computer. Li is the winner of the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the 1st Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award.
