Speaker’s Profile:

Prof. Hou Jun is a famous art critic, a veteran journalist, and a senior reporter. He is Vice President of Shenzhen Press Association, Adjunct Professor of Shenzhen University, Member of Zhang Ding Arts Research Center of Tsinghua University, and Distinguished Professor of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen. He is the author of more than 20 books, including East Dawning, The Lonely Masters, Those Little Men, and Tasting Tea and Experiencing The Truth,etc.

 

Abstract:

From Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo to Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, artists of Renaissance to Postimpressionism experienced difficult lives. Prof. Hou Jun will discuss how the destiny of artist under social transitionis related to social changes. The lecture which reveals the loneliness and excellence of great artists aims to deepen students’ understanding of liberal arts and improve their aesthetic value.
