Dr. Yan Shaohua
Assistant professor at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and research fellow at Guangdong Institute for International Strategies
Dr. Yan Shaohua holds a Ph.D. in European Studies from the University of Hong Kong, and a master of EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe in Bruges, which is known as the cradle of European statesmen, and was awarded Honorary Citizen of Bruges. He also holds a M.A. and B.A. of international history from the Department of History, Nankai University. Dr. Yan specializes in EU politics and foreign policy, China-EU relations as well as Hong Kong’s external relations. He has published a number of articles on those topics in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes in China and abroad. He served as a visiting scholar at the Library of the European Parliament (Luxembourg) and the Directorate General for External Relations of the European Parliament (Brussels). And as a representative of China, he attended the EU-BRICS Summit of Young Leaders (Finland), the China-Europe Forum (Brussels), The ASEAN Youth Initiative Conference (Indonesia), the Cross-strait Youth Leadership Camp (Taipei) , Model Asia-Europe Meeting(Singapore) and Model United Nations (Beijing) etc. As a columnist in international relations, Dr. Yan is a regular contributor to Chinese and international media, including China Daily, Global Times, South China Morning Post, Economy and Nation Weekly, Ta Kung Pao, Hong Kong Commercial Daily, the Diplomat and EurActiv etc.
