CUHK-Shenzhen Professor Yin Zhang Elected as Class of 2019 SIAM Fellow

Professor ZHANG Yin, Co-Director of Institute for Data and Decision Analytics (iDDA), CUHK-Shenzhen, was nominated as a Class of 2019 SIAM Fellow for his pioneering and current algorithmic and theoretical contributions in the areas of linear and nonlinear optimization and remote sensing.

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) just announced the 2019 Class of SIAM Fellows. Professor ZHANG Yin, Co-Director of Institute for Data and Decision Analytics (iDDA), CUHK-Shenzhen, was nominated as a Class of 2019 SIAM Fellow for his pioneering and current algorithmic and theoretical contributions in the areas of linear and nonlinear optimization and remote sensing.

The 2019 Class of SIAM Fellows consists of 28 esteemed members of the community. Professor ZHANG Yin, currently a President Chair Professor at iDDA, CUHK-Shenzhen and a Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University, is the only elected Fellow from a university in mainland China this year.

 

Founded in 1951, SIAM is the world's most influential applied mathematics and computational science organization with more than 14,500 members. The organization hosts conferences and publishes books and scholarly journals with a wide impact on the world. In 2009, SIAM instituted a Fellows program to recognize certain members who have made outstanding contributions to the fields that SIAM serves.
