Notice of program application for NSFC Major Research Plan of molecular function visualization of tumor progression and diagnosis 2020

The NSFC has initiated program application for Major Research Plan of molecular function visualization of tumor progression and diagnosis. Details of application requirements are as follows:

1. Funding fields

The research focus on forming a new cognition of the nature of malignant tumors by visualizing the key molecular functions of tumor progression and diagnosis. It plans to make breakthroughs in the following 4 aspects:

A. Molecular information visualization of early malignant tumors

B. Visualization of malignant tumor microenvironment progression

C. Tumor heterogeneity and visual functional typing

D. Intelligent diagnosis and efficacy evaluation of tumor imaging, pathology and multi-omics integration

2. Eligibility of applicants

A. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:

 (1) With the experience of undertaking basic research projects;

 (2) Have senior academic title.

B. In-site post-doctoral researchers are not eligible to apply for this program.

3. Funding amount and duration

Fostering Program: Average funding intensity is about 0.6 million yuan per project for three years (the start time should be January 1, 2021 and finish time should be December 31, 2023) ;

Key Program: Average funding intensity is about 3 million yuan per project for four years (the start time should be January 1, 2021 and finish time should be December 31, 2024) .

4. Procedure of application

    Online application

Applicants shall fill out application forms online via the application system (https://isisn.nsfc.gov.cn/) . When filling in the application form, applicants should follow: for “funding category”, select“重大研究计划”; for “subclass introduction”, select “重点支持项目”or “培育项目”; for “annotation”, select “肿瘤演进与诊疗的分子功能可视化研究”.

    Paperless submission

In the stage of submission, applicants shall only submit the online application, without submitting any hard copies.

5. Other requirements

A. Application limit

  •        This fund is subject to the total number limit(The  total  number  of  the  programs  a  researcher  with  senior  academic title applies  for  (including  as  applicant  and  main  participant)  and  undertakes  (including  as  applicant  and  main  participant)  shall  not  exceed  two);
  •        One applicant shall submit no more than one application in the same year (excluding Integrated Program and Strategic Research Program);
  •        Grantees of the Major Research Plan program are not allowed to apply for this kind of programs in the following year. 

Please refer Annex 1-Guide for more information of application limit.

B. The collaborative organizations involved shall not exceed 2 in number.

C. Applicants shall follow the outline of Major Research Plan to write proposals and shall indicate the key funding fields in the first sentence of abstract. Meanwhile, in the section "项目立项依据",applicants shall expound the relationship with the closest scientific issues which written in the guide, and discuss the contribution to the solution of core scientific issues and achievement of overall objectives of the Major Research Plan.

D. Both application forms and proposals shall be written in Chinese.

6. Deadline

Applicants shall upload attachments and submit online application forms by July 22, 2020. After submission, the RAO will review and feedback. Applicants shall submit the revised (if any) application forms online by July 27, 2020, without submitting any hard copies.

Delayed application will not be accepted.
