The Science and Art of Language

本次沙龙将从语言学视角出发，为听众们介绍语言的科学与艺术。借助三个现场互动游戏，观众们将直观认识语言的三个本质要素：音、形、意。同时，一些生活中的语言现象，例如双语与翻译，谎言与讽刺，语言障碍等等话题，在此次沙龙中也将涉及。希望听众在活动之后，能够深入思考自身与“语言”间的联系；同时也对于作为当今世界前沿科学和人类精巧艺术的“语言”进行再发现。本次活动参与者无需任何相关知识背景。

From the perspective of Linguistics, this General Education Salon aims to introduce the Science and Art of Language to the audience. With three interactive games, three essential factors of language will be demonstrated: Sound, Form, and Meaning. Several daily language phenomena will also be discussed, such as Bilingualism and Translation, Deception and Irony, and Speech Disorder etc. It is hoped that this salon will enlighten the audience about the relation between language and themselves, to rediscover language as a cutting-edge science and an exquisite art. No prior preparation or background is required for this activity.
