Abstract: In a Kelso-Crawford job matching framework, we consider arbitrary transfers (subsidy and/or taxation) that depend on the sets of doctors that hospitals hire and corresponding salaries. A transfer function preserves the substitutes condition if and only if it is a sum of an additively separable function and a cardinally concave one. This paper explores the consequences of applying these transfer functions.
