Life is full of fun. If you live your life as a work of art, you will become an artist.

Artists may live all kinds of lives, but they must have something in common, "romantic". Maybe not on the surface, not in the work, but in their hearts and bones. The "art" in their daily life is no longer about the sense of ritual but just as normal as breathing. Artists refine the details of life into art, a picture, a cat, a piece of sound...

Arts to Share: from today on, the University Arts Centre will share the daily life of artists from time to time. Every artist cares about your recent situations and will show his or her interesting discoveries in life to students. Some of them are guests that we are familiar with, who have been invited as lecturers in the "Meeting Intellectuals in the Spring Hills" Lecture Series or have been invited to be our Artist-in-Residence. Some of them are art pioneers in various fields. Let's see their footprints, preferences and inspiration sources in life, so as to satisfy curiosity about artists and enlighten romantic souls.

The first phase:

Fabio Cavallucci: Art Critic, Curator

1. "...the Illuminating Gas": Ceryth Wyn Evans, "...the Illuminating Gas", Hangar Bicocca, Milan

Cerith Wyn Evans is one of the most important European artists. He began his artistic career as a film-maker, producing experimental films and from the 1990s he has focused on language and perception, through sculpture, installation, photography, and film. Cerith Wyn Evans often realizes neon installations with complex shapes that constitute a central element in his oeuvre.

Hangar Bicocca is a big hangar in Milan, owned by Pirelli (a company producing tires owned by Chinese). The exhibition, held from 31 October 2019 till 23 February 2020 redefines the space of the Navate through a corpus of works made over the past twenty years, in which the artist explores and delves deep into the potential of light and sound.

2.The Seven Heavenly Palaces: Anselm Kiefer, The Seven Heavenly Palaces, Hangar Bicocca, Milan

The Seven Heavenly Palaces trace the reference to a dialogical multiplicity of histories, in an anachronistic manner; it seems built with fragments of personal and collective memory haphazardly assembled.

3. Become a Curator:

The book is about curating contemporary art, written by various authors (around 10), edited by Gianni Romano, and published in Postmedia Book, Milan 2019. I wrote there an essay titled "Is it possible to make research based and at the same time popular exhibitions?". But the book is available only in Italian at the moment.

Ejing Zhang:Mixed Fabric Designer

1. A Series of Designs:

This series of designs is inspired by a Belgian painter, Constant Montald's oil painting, La fontaine de l’inspiration, which was created in 1862. Under the blue curtain of darkness, in the mysterious golden forest, the almost transparent boys and girls are drawing the fountain of inspiration. The sculptural and metallic shape in the design is based on the folds of the Muse's suit in the oil paintings of the pre-Raphael period, matching with the delicate resin color with a little mystery.

2. “La fontaine de l’inspiration”:

Oil painting La fontaine de l’inspiration by a Belgian painter, Constant Montald, created in 1862.

The painting is displayed at the most conspicuous place in the gallery hall. The entire painting is nearly 5 meters high and every detail of it is extremely beautiful and exquisite.

In Chile, I met the most stray dogs I have ever seen. Carefree stray dogs. People pat the dogs' heads, put luminous clothes on them, put clean drinking water and dog food under the trees, and write: Please sterilize the dogs and help to reduce the number of stray dogs.
