Faculty Positions in Biomedical Sciences (Pre-Clinical)(Ref. AC2020/017/01)

Located in the Longgang District of Shenzhen, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK(SZ)) is a research-intensive university.  English is the main medium of course instruction. Position Specifications

There will be abundant opportunities for medical education, research, academic exchange, technology application and knowledge transfer arising from the establishment of the School of Medicine. CUHK(SZ) invites interested faculty from around the world to apply for positions of Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in the Pre-Clinical Division of the new school. Applicants should have appropriate qualifications and a good scholarly record demonstrating teaching and research excellence in a related discipline. They are expected to teach topics in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology. Candidates with prior medical school teaching experience and/or medical education background are preferred. CUHK(SZ) adopts a tenure-track system for Assistant Professors and above. Senior positions with tenure will be considered for outstanding candidates with proven records.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor – Synthetic Chemist (Ref. AC2020/016/01)

The School of Life and Health Sciences (LHS) at CUHK-Shenzhen is to pursue excellence in learning, discovery and innovation in life and health sciences for the benefit of human health and well-being. It strives to be an internationally recognized life and health science school that offers inspiring educational opportunities for students, conducts interdisciplinary research with global impact and serves the life and health science profession and the community with distinction. It will focus on providing students with rigorous, multi-disciplinary training that enable graduates to be leaders and innovators in life and health science professions. Positions and Qualifications

The School of Life and Health Sciences is seeking a highly motivated chemist with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and familiarity with DNA encoded chemistry. The qualified candidate should have skills and experience in designing and synthesizing DNA encoded chemical libraries and use these libraries to identify novel chemicals to protein targets.  Knowledge and skills in optimizing these chemical matter to drug candidates are highly desirable.

Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor - Precision and Regenerative Medicine (Ref. AC2020/015/01)

The Ciechanover Institute of Precision and Regenerative Medicine at the School of Life and Health Sciences invites applications for faculty positions in the research fields of precision medicine and stem cell/regenerative medicine, with the following areas particularly encouraged: translational research of cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis; metastasis and related signaling pathways including proteasome, chemokine receptors; stem cell research related to cancer treatment; and translational drug discovery research for cancer and viral infections.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

* A doctoral degree in life sciences and postdoctoral experience in related research field

* Proof of research capability (publications, research funding record, patents, etc.)

Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor - Computational Chemist (Ref. AC2020/014/01)

The Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery (KIIDD) is seeking a highly qualified computational chemist to apply molecular modeling and computational chemistry techniques towards advancement of small-molecule drug discovery programs on G protein-coupled receptors and other important drug targets. The principal responsibilities will include molecular modeling of multiple concurrent projects including SBDD, FBDD and ligand-based designs as a key member of drug design team in the Institute; contribute to and drive drug discovery programs as a senior level computational chemist working on multiple multidisciplinary project teams; responsible for the success of the chemistry aspects of the drug discovery team through individual contributions and in collaboration with medicinal chemists and structural biologists.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

* PhD in computational chemistry or equivalent with demonstrable understanding of medicinal and organic chemistry

* Understanding of the physical chemical properties of small-molecules and its interactions with proteins

* Experience with one or more molecular modeling suites (including but not limited to MOE, Discovery Studio, Schrodinger)

* Experience with Computer-Aided Drug Design: structure/ligand-based drug design, molecular docking, virtual screening, QSAR, pharmacophore modeling, PK/PD data analysis and modeling.

* Programming experience in scripting languages including R, Python and/or programming languages (Java, C, C++).

* Abilities to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
